Stone Table Studio

About

Stone Table Studio is the Berea, Kentucky studio of sculptor Gary DuBois, who works exclusively with discarded and reclaimed natural stone. Gary carves into slabs of granite, marble, limestone, and other materials salvaged from quarry scraps and building waste, revealing surfaces, colors, and hidden patterning that have been unseen for generations. The resulting bowls, dishes, and decorative forms are his signature: beauty restored from what others discarded.

Gary describes this practice as a redemptive metaphor. After hours of grinding, shaping, and polishing, each stone opens to reveal something new — a reminder that there is value and beauty to be found even in the broken and rejected. Every piece of stone is unique, presenting fresh opportunities for discovery as each carving unfolds.

A juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen and the Kentucky Crafted program, Gary’s work is available at Top Drawer Gallery in Berea’s Old Town Artisan Village, on Etsy, and at stonetablestudio.com.
