About
Steve Heartsill is a Lexington-based maker who fuses handmade ceramic tiles with plasma-cut steel to create wall pieces that, from a distance, are often mistaken for stained glass. Patterns inspired by nature and ancient cultures are divided between fired ceramic and hand-cut metal, then mounted to shadow-box the tiles and give each piece striking dimensional depth. Heartsill brings a background in metal fabrication and auto industry machining to his ceramic practice, and his work can be found at top Kentucky art fairs and in the gallery at Kentucky Mudworks.
