About

Matthew McDole is a Louisville, Kentucky illustrator, painter, screen printer, and sign painter who grew up on a farm in Bedford, Kentucky and built a creative practice rooted in skateboarding culture, deadpan humor, and a lifelong obsession with love, mystery, and the macabre. His graphic imagery mixes tattoo flash-art aesthetics with pop culture references, resulting in work that is clean, emotionally direct, and quietly philosophical — a be-happy, life-is-meaningless attitude that is, at its core, deeply romantic.

McDole’s work spans prints, murals, logos, record covers, T-shirts, and hand-painted signs. For years he contributed to Louisville’s creative scene through Mperfect Design, working with West Sixth Brewing, Please & Thank You, and dozens of other local businesses. His work has appeared twice in Thrasher Magazine and been exhibited at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, Quappi Projects, the Carnegie Center for Art and History, and the Green Building Gallery.

McDole’s prints and goods are available through his online shop at matthewmcdole.bigcartel.com.
