About

Amelia Stamps Pottery is a Lexington, Kentucky ceramics studio where Amelia Stamps has been making wheel-thrown porcelain for more than two decades. Raised in North Carolina in a family of working potters — her parents made clay in Pinehurst, NC in the 1970s — Amelia developed a deep relationship with handmade objects from childhood. She received a BFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina Asheville in 2002 and has been a full-time studio potter ever since.

Her work centers on utilitarian forms: porcelain dinnerware, serving pieces, mugs, and bowls with soft celadon glazes that pool and break over volumetric, sensual surfaces. Amelia values simplicity, integrity of form, and the capacity of a well-made everyday object to hold the user’s attention, even briefly. She is a Kentucky Arts Council Emerging Artist Award recipient, which funded a research trip to China to study ceramics.

Amelia Stamps Pottery is available at Junior’s General Store in Danville, the Kentucky Artisans Gallery in Berea, at regional craft shows, and at ameliastamps.com.
